I rarely shop garage sales; in fact the one I hit recently was only the second one ever. It was interesting and I guess the saying “you never know what you’ll find” is true. Ski boots, yep…and from all appearances they looked like they had only been used once. Now, I’m not a skier so I have no knowledge of the brand name or the technology that went into the design and manufacturing of these boots nor do I care. I didn’t want them for the intended use, but for what I envisioned they would become. I left the boots sitting until the final minute plus a few seconds of the sale giving everyone a fair chance in grabbing them up…no takers…alrighty then, they’re going home with me. SOLD!
WARNING to all true snow skiers the following images are graphic and not for the weak at heart or stomach.
I removed the liners and proceeded to to cut away anything I deemed unnecessary in my vision. Skiers you were warned now step away from your monitors or cover your eyes and quickly scroll to the bottom of the page before viewing more upsetting and graphic images involving power tools and the destruction of a perfectly good set of foot armor.
Drilled holes in the bottom and packed each boot with…no silly not snow, this is Georgia after all…but potting soil.
My new planters are nearly rock solid and really brighten up the outside of my garage.
Project cost: foot armor from a garage sale, 2-Rudbeckia plants Denver Daisy variety and bag of potting soil from Lowe’s all for less than $24.
I may frequent more garage sales in the future…not…however I’m quite pleased with my find from this particular garage sale.
